Introduction

The dividend reinvestment feature is designed to assist you with recording dividend reinvestments. When this feature is enabled, you can choose to record a dividend reinvestment when you add or edit a dividend. When a dividend reinvestment is recorded, a buy trade for the new shares is recorded in your portfolio, in addition to the dividend record.

Enabling the dividend reinvestment function

The dividend reinvestment function can be enabled by clicking on the on/off toggle link in the options section (in the right hand side bar on the sidebar on the share detail page). The dividend reinvestment is enabled individually for each share holding.

Recording dividend reinvestments

To record a dividend reinvestment, click on the dividend that is to be reinvested and then click the ‘Dividend Reinvested’ tick box. Record the date, quantity, and price of the new shares obtained. If you are recording a dividend reinvestment against an automatically created dividend, default values are provided in these boxes for you to confirm.

Email alerts

When you enable dividend reinvestments for a share, you will receive an email alert when each new automatically created dividend is paid, reminding you to record the reinvestment trade.

Deleting a dividend reinvestment

There are two ways to delete a dividend reinvestment:

  1. Click on the dividend record and un-tick the ‘dividend reinvested’ tick box, then click the ‘save’ button.
  2. Click on the trade record and click the ‘Delete’ button.

Note: If you delete a dividend record that has a dividend reinvestment recorded, both the dividend record and the associated buy trade will be deleted.
